Art Deco Brushed Silver and Aquamarine Statement Cuff

$785.00

This one-of-a-kind Art Deco Brushed Silver and Aquamarine Statement Cuff is handmade by Andrea Li in her Denver studio: a hand-fabricated sterling silver bracelet frame set with brushed sterling silver scales and anchored by a dense cluster of aquamarine in three distinct forms.

The cluster is built from a rare blue aquamarine smooth cabochon bead at the center, framed by moss aquamarine, marquis aquamarine briolettes, and rare blue aqua briolettes. Surrounding them: zircons for sparkle, high luster pearls for contrast, and small square sterling silver bead accents and a sterling silver starburst flourish to give the whole composition its Art Deco geometry. Total circumference 7 inches and 14mm wide. The cluster itself sits 1-1/2 inches wide and 2 inches tall - substantial, architectural, the kind of piece people ask about before you've said a word.

The aquamarine varieties on this cuff are why no two of these could ever be the same. Rare blue aquamarine is not a category you find in commercial jewelry; it sits close to the clear end of the spectrum, with that pale, watery quality that art deco silhouettes were built to hold. The moss aquamarine brings the opposite: inclusions that give it depth and an interior landscape. Both stones and every briolette are cold-connected to the frame, assembled with wire and never with heat, which is what lets so many varieties of aquamarine and pearl coexist in one dense cluster without any of them being put at risk. Briolettes are drilled at their narrowest point, exactly where heat could shatter them, and the cold-connection method keeps that damage from ever happening.

One of a kind. When it sells, it's gone. Explore more in the Glacier Collection, or read about aquamarine before you buy.

What is this cuff made of?
The cuff is built on a hand-fabricated sterling silver bracelet frame with brushed sterling silver scales. The cluster contains a rare blue aquamarine smooth cabochon bead, moss aquamarine, marquis aquamarine briolettes, rare blue aqua briolettes, zircons, high luster pearls, small square sterling silver bead accents, and a sterling silver starburst flourish. Everything is sterling silver and cold-connected; no gold, no gold-fill, no plating.
How is the cluster attached?
Every element in the cluster is cold-connected to the sterling silver frame, assembled with wire and never with heat. Briolettes are drilled at their narrowest point, exactly where heat could cause damage, and the cold-connection method keeps that risk from ever reaching the stone. The pearls in the cluster are also cold-set, keeping their nacre intact.
Will sterling silver tarnish?
Sterling silver develops a patina over time, which deepens the contrast in the brushed finish. To slow tarnish, store the cuff in an airtight pouch or box when you are not wearing it, and keep it away from perfume, lotion, and water. If you want to brighten it, a soft polishing cloth on the silver areas only is all it needs. Avoid cleaning solutions near the stones.
Is this piece one of a kind?
Yes. This cuff is from the Glacier Collection, built once and never replicated or manufactured. The combination of rare blue aquamarine, moss aquamarine, and marquis briolettes means no two could ever look the same even if another were attempted. When it sells, it is gone.
