Atacama Gold Statement Bib Necklace
The Atacama Gold Statement Bib Necklace is handmade by Andrea Li in her Denver studio: 12-gauge 14k gold-filled wire shaped into a sculpted bib, anchored by three prehnite gemstones and finished with AAA-quality large faceted green amethyst briolettes that swing freely with movement.
The 12-gauge wire is the structural choice, not a decorative one. At that gauge the frame holds its bib shape without needing a backing, so the piece sits close at the collarbone on the 15½-inch choker and fans outward into the bib extending 5½ inches without any bulk against the chest. The prehnite adds a milky sage depth at the center; the green amethyst briolettes pull that color into faceted light at the edges. Worn against a white shirt or a deep V-neck, the color does the work.
The briolettes are drilled at the top and wire-wrapped individually, which is what keeps the movement clean and prevents any single drop from twisting. Every connection is cold: wire, no solder, no heat anywhere near the stones. That matters for faceted briolettes because heat can fracture them along their internal lines.
