This one-of-a-kind Labradorite Drop Pendant Necklace with Gemstones is handmade by Andrea Li in her Denver studio: multiple 14k gold-filled chains drape around a large labradorite briolette pendant, its flash deepened by a hand-placed cluster of AAA quality Swiss Blue topaz, green amethyst, lemon topaz, mystic topaz, pyrite, amethyst, and green cats eye. The 14k gold-filled wire and 24k gold vermeil clasp complete the build. Total length 22 inches.

Labradorite is an inherently dramatic stone. Its flash shifts depending on the angle of light, which means the same necklace reads differently every time you move. Clustering it with Swiss Blue topaz and lemon topaz keeps that movement in the cooler, more luminous register, while the mystic topaz and pyrite pull in warmth and depth. No two elements in this cluster repeat what the others do.

Every stone is cold-connected, assembled with wire and never with heat. There is a real reason for that: a briolette is drilled through its narrowest point, which is exactly where the stone is most brittle. Heat or pressure at that spot would fracture it. I wire-set each stone individually, fitting the wire to the drilled hole so the connection is secure and nothing is forced. That is what lets a labradorite briolette anchor a layered cluster like this without putting the stone at risk.
