Second Light
Light found in the overlooked, the dormant, and the dark.
I named this collection Second Light because every piece in it began somewhere dark, or overlooked, or set aside — and found its way to the light anyway.
There is a stone here that sat in a drawer for years. There is gold I rescued from a design another maker had given up on. There is a length of grey pearl chain most people would call plain, that hides a whole rainbow if you turn it toward the window. There is wire that was orphaned when a deal fell through, and a cluster of stones that failed at being one thing before it became another. And at the heart of it all are amethyst geodes that spent millions of years forming inside lightless volcanic hollows — pressure, time, dark water — before anyone cut them open to find purple crystals radiating inside like small, patient suns.
That is the whole idea. Not light that defeats the dark, but light that was formed by it. Light that was always there, waiting to be seen.
I think we need that right now. It's a heavy season — you feel it, I feel it, most of us are carrying something — and the loud, manufactured kind of hope doesn't hold up under real weight. But this quieter truth does: that the discarded thing may hold the most light. That the dormant thing isn't gone, only waiting. That you don't always have to make the light — sometimes you just have to look closer, and give it a second chance to shine.
These aren't jewelry the way a collection is jewelry. Each one is made a single time, by my hands, and then never again — closer to a small painting than a product. When one finds you, you become the only person in the world carrying that exact story. My hope is that it feels less like an accessory and more like a talisman: something you put on and remember, on the heavy days especially, that the light is already here. It always was.

Second Light
The second chapter of Tamar, my pastel gemstone collection. One-of-a-kind pieces in soft color, handmade in my Denver studio. Opening November 4.
The Next Round of Tamar
I work what I call whole buffalo. A collection is not finished until I have used up most of the stones I bought for it. Tamar began as the pieces I had made when there was time to release them. Second Light is the round I always meant to make next, built from the same pastel palette and the same drawer of stones I could not stop thinking about.
Two stones lead this chapter. Amethyst stalactite slices, those cross-sections of a geode with their lace of crystal and soft lilac edges, are the showstoppers. And moonstone, for the blue flash that moves when you do. Around them sit aquamarine, morganite, green amethyst, kunzite, and pearl. Every piece is built once. When it sells, it is gone.

About the collection
What is the Second Light collection?
Second Light is a collection of one-of-a-kind gemstone pieces by Andrea Li, made by hand in Denver around a single idea: light found in the overlooked, the dormant, and the dark. It spans moonstone, amethyst stalactite, pearls, aquamarine and beryl.
Are these pieces one of a kind?
Yes. Every piece in Second Light is made a single time and never repeated. When one finds you, no one else in the world wears that exact piece.
Do the necklaces come with earrings?
Each necklace has a coordinating mate earring, sold separately, so you can wear the set together or either piece on its own. The pairs are designed to read as one intentional look.
What gemstones are in the collection?
Moonstone and rainbow moonstone, amethyst including geode stalactite slices, Akoya and freshwater pearls, aquamarine and mixed beryl (aquamarine, morganite, heliodor), sapphires, and Herkimer diamonds, among others.
