This layered gold necklace is hand-built by Andrea Li in her Denver studio using 24k vermeil teardrops she picked up from a vendor at the Tucson Gem Show. Each teardrop was precision-drilled by hand to create tiny holes for small 14k gold-filled jump rings, then connected into an ornate pattern to form the three-inch centerpiece. Large marquis-shaped green amethyst briolettes drop from the base, and a single teardrop at the top is handset with green gold topaz edged with tiny zircon rondelles to anchor the design.
The necklace sits at 16 inches with three layers of chain — each incorporating the same vermeil teardrops — creating depth that reads ornate yet airy. The brushed finish on the vermeil catches light differently than polished gold, giving the piece a warmth that feels almost antique.

The Atacama Gold Statement Bib Necklace is handmade by Andrea Li in her Denver studio: 12-gauge 14k gold-filled wire shaped into a sculpted bib, anchored by three prehnite gemstones and finished with AAA-quality large faceted green amethyst briolettes that swing freely with movement.
The 12-gauge wire is the structural choice, not a decorative one. At that gauge the frame holds its bib shape without needing a backing, so the piece sits close at the collarbone on the 15½-inch choker and fans outward into the bib extending 5½ inches without any bulk against the chest. The prehnite adds a milky sage depth at the center; the green amethyst briolettes pull that color into faceted light at the edges. Worn against a white shirt or a deep V-neck, the color does the work.
The briolettes are drilled at the top and wire-wrapped individually, which is what keeps the movement clean and prevents any single drop from twisting. Every connection is cold: wire, no solder, no heat anywhere near the stones. That matters for faceted briolettes because heat can fracture them along their internal lines. The Hamada Hoop Necklace is handmade by Andrea Li in her Denver studio: 14K gold-filled hand-fabricated arch and open circle frames on a 14K gold-filled chain and clasp, with a hand-bailed green rutilated gemstone chain and three pendants -- large lodalite, a flat pear briolette, and a green rutilated long teardrop briolette. Necklace length is 15 inches with a 4-inch extender chain; pendant length 4 inches.
The open circle frames are hand-fabricated, not cast -- the geometry comes from bending and shaping the metal at the bench. The stone drops are cold-connected, assembled with wire and never with heat. Cold connection is how I work with briolettes: they're drilled through their narrowest point, which is also the most brittle, so introducing heat or pressure there risks fracturing the stone. Instead, I work each hole individually, fitting the wire to the drill opening so the stone hangs securely without any clamping force on it.
Lodalite is a variety of clear quartz that encloses mineral inclusions inside -- mossy greens, amber wisps, tiny landscapes frozen in the crystal. No two lodalite pendants contain the same scene. The green rutilated stones carry a different kind of interior life: copper-toned or silver needle-like rutile crystals running through the quartz, visible from every angle as the piece moves.
