Inspired by a strand of a rare, unrepeatable purple amethyst gemstone strand sourced from the Tucson gem show, this one-of-a-kind statement necklace evolved through experimentation. The original concept, resembling a jeweled vertebra, transformed into a precise, three-tiered formation, reminiscent of mosaic-stained glass. Each gemstone is hand-set within custom-fabricated 14k gold-filled frames, designed with articulated joints for improved wearability.

This Purple Amethyst Cuff is handmade by Andrea Li as a companion piece to the amethyst choker that came before it: the same mosaic-like configuration of natural amethyst gemstones, the same Tucson strand, now tailored into a sculptural cuff bracelet.
The amethysts were sourced as a single strand at the Tucson gem show, and Andrea built both pieces from that one find, using every stone in it. That is not a coincidence or a marketing angle - it is how she works. She calls it using the entire strand: when a stone parcel or strand arrives in the studio, no portion is discarded. The material's full story gets told. This cuff carries all of that intention in its structure.
The stones are set in natural amethyst gemstones on a 14K gold-filled circle link extender chain, with 18K gold vermeil components and recycled 14/20K gold-filled metal throughout. The extender chain is a practical choice, not an afterthought: it allows the cuff to adjust across wrist sizes without sacrificing the weight or proportion of the piece.
