Marie Curie Aquamarine Vintage Necklace
This one-of-a-kind Marie Curie Aquamarine Vintage Necklace is handmade by Andrea Li in her Denver studio: a layered composition built from vintage components circa 1950s, anchored by a gemstone cluster of moss aquamarine, grey moonstone, labradorite, pyrite, cats eye seminole, and freshwater pearls, with Swarovski crystal accents throughout.
The necklace runs on a sterling silver link chain threaded with snakeskin patterned leather and fastened by a fancy sterling silver triple strand clasp with white topaz details. Pendant length is 4 inches from the top of the necklace; total necklace length is 18 inches. Every element was chosen to work together: the organic texture of the leather against the precision of the silver links, the earth tones of the moss aquamarine against the flash of labradorite. From the vintage collection: built once, never replicated, never manufactured.
Every stone in the cluster is cold-connected, assembled with wire and never with heat. That is the only way to build a layered cluster around stones like moss aquamarine and moonstone without putting them at risk. Briolettes and drilled beads are set through their narrowest point, where a stone is most brittle, so I work each wire link by hand, fitting it to the drilled hole so the connection is secure and the stone sits without pressure. The result is a cluster that holds its shape, moves naturally, and lets each stone catch light from its own angle.
