This 14K Single Pearl Circle Pendant Necklace is handmade by Andrea Li: a solid 14k circle pendant set with a single 5-5.5mm freshwater grade-A pearl on a 1mm delicate oval cable chain, 17″ total length. It is part of Aglow, her modular collection of barely-there, naked jewelry meant to be stacked, layered, and lived in.
The circle is one of the oldest symbols in jewelry, and there’s a reason it keeps coming back. This one is barely visible on the chest — a clean 14k hoop, one pearl, one chain — and it carries all the quiet assurance that comes with choosing something that does not need to announce itself. It layers beautifully with a longer chain or a delicate pendant and looks exactly as considered worn alone.
I choose grade-A freshwater pearls for their luster and even, rounded surface. A pearl is soft, around 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale, which is why I source carefully by grade: the difference between a grade-A pearl and an ungraded one shows up on the skin. Paired with solid 14k gold, it will hold its warmth and its finish well beyond a plated or filled alternative.
