This Baroque Pearl Gold-Filled Bracelet is handmade by Andrea Li: freshwater baroque pearls set alongside a 14K gold-filled open circle and a hand-fabricated 12 gauge gold-filled wire circle with a diameter of 1¼″, all carried on a hand-fabricated 10 gauge gold-filled wire cuff bracelet. Part of Aglow, her modular collection of barely-there, naked jewelry built to be stacked, layered, and lived in.
Baroque pearls are the irregular ones, each shaped differently by the way the oyster grew around the nucleus during cultivation. That irregularity is not a flaw. It is what makes each pearl unrepeatable and what gives the piece its organic, unhurried quality. The 10 gauge wire cuff is heavier than a standard bangle, shaped and finished by hand in the Denver studio before the pearls are ever set, so the structure holds its form whether worn on its own or stacked with other pieces from Aglow.
Pearls are soft, around 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale, and they ask for a little care: put this bracelet on after lotion and perfume, take it off before washing your hands, and wipe it gently with a soft cloth when you remove it. Store it away from harder stones that could scratch the nacre. Treated that way, the luster holds for years of real wear.
