Gold Long Green Gemstone Y Drop Necklace

$780.00

This long green gemstone necklace is hand-built by Andrea Li in her Denver studio — and it's probably the most technically demanding piece in the entire Pastel Gemstone collection. Three 14k gold-filled sequin chains align in perfect harmony to appear as one, splitting to ascend on either side of the neck while maintaining the illusion of a single strand. Getting that right required anchoring all three chains to a tiny metal bar on both sides, shaped to follow the natural contours of the body so no chain droops out of sync with the others.

Each green amethyst stone sits in a custom-fabricated gold frame, precision-drilled and hand-soldered with jump rings to connect them in a cascading Y-drop formation. The simplicity of the final design hides the complexity of the construction — the kind of elegance that only comes from distilling something difficult into something that looks effortless.

Andrea drew on every technique available — fabrication, wire work, and assembly — to build a piece where no single element is recognizable in the final design. Built once and never repeated.

What makes this necklace special?
The construction. Three separate 14k gold-filled sequin chains are hand-anchored to hidden metal bars so they move as a single unit while following the body's natural contours. Each green amethyst stone sits in a custom-drilled gold frame soldered into a cascading Y formation. The engineering is invisible — the result looks effortless, which is the whole point.
What is green amethyst?
Green amethyst — also called prasiolite — is a naturally occurring green variety of quartz from the same mineral family as purple amethyst. It rates 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, making it durable for everyday wear. Andrea sources her green amethyst stones from vendors at the Tucson Gem Show. Learn more in the green amethyst collection.
How long is this necklace?
This is a long Y-drop style that sits below the collarbone with the green amethyst cascade extending down the center of the chest. The exact length is set during fabrication to balance the three-chain alignment. Contact Andrea for precise measurements before purchasing.
How do I care for this piece?
Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners. Clean gently with a degreaser soap like Dawn and a soft toothbrush. Store flat in an airtight bag with anti-tarnish strips — laying it flat prevents the three chains from tangling. This piece arrives in a branded gift box with a travel pouch.
