Ember Amethyst Stalactite Cuff Bracelet

$870.00

This is Ember, a one-of-a-kind amethyst stalactite cuff bracelet built around the smallest of three raw geode slices from this collection. When the two stalactite necklaces were finished, this slice was left, and it was exactly the right size to live on a wrist instead of a neck.

An amethyst geode stalactite is a cross-section of a hollow mineral tube lined with crystal points. What you see here is the inside: pale lavender and deep violet crystals growing inward from the outer rind, caught mid-formation. I pressed a 24k gold vermeil circle over a wooden dowel until it cradled the slice like a palm, widened the anchor hole with a diamond-tip reamer, and threaded layers of 14k gold-filled wire through to build a secure web. The cluster then lies across the surface until the stones appear to grow out of the crystal, with light purple shield-cut asymmetric amethysts jutting from the edges to mirror the raw outer rim.

The frame is fabricated from heavy 10-gauge 14k gold-filled wire, soldered at a slight angle to leave a wide opening so the cuff goes on and comes off without fighting a clasp. Four large flanking stones thread through drilled holes on heavy head pins, two gray moonstone rectangles and two light amethysts, so the story carries all the way around the wrist.

It wears on its own against bare skin or a simple sleeve. Made once by Andrea Li in her Denver studio, from this exact stalactite.

Standard Bracelet Lengths

  • Women's standard: 7 inches (17.8 cm) is the most common size, and this bracelet measures that.

• See how to wear it -> the pastel styling guide

• Second Light collection

How a gold-filled cuff is fabricated

From the bench

Ember is built on a cuff frame I fabricated from heavy 10-gauge 14k gold-filled wire, soldered at an angle to leave a wide opening.

I rounded and high-polished those ends so the cuff slips on and off easily and never catches, then wove gold-filled wire through a reamed hole in the folded vermeil circle until the web locked the frame to the slice.

It is the smallest of the three stalactite slices in this collection, which is why it became a bracelet.

What is an amethyst stalactite?

An amethyst stalactite is a cross-section of a hollow mineral tube that formed underground over millions of years. The slice reveals the inside of the tube: amethyst crystal points growing inward from the rind, caught mid-formation. No two cross-sections are the same because the crystal growth is completely natural and unrepeated. You can read more in my amethyst stalactite gemstone guide.

Is this cuff one of a kind?

Yes. Ember is one of a kind, built once and never repeated. The stalactite slice itself is a unique natural object, and the cuff frame, wirework, and gemstone cluster are hand-fabricated around it in my Denver studio. No other cuff carries this exact piece.

Does it pair with the stalactite necklaces?

Yes -- Ember completes a three-piece stalactite set alongside Awakening and Cascade, the two amethyst stalactite necklaces in the Second Light collection. All three use the same folded 24k gold vermeil circle and wirework-web setting technique, so they share a clear bench signature and layer together naturally. Ember can also be worn on its own as a statement cuff.

How do I put on a cuff bracelet?

I soldered the cuff frame at a slight angle to create a wide opening on one side. Slide the opening over the narrowest part of your wrist -- usually just below the wrist bone -- then gently rotate until the cuff sits centered. No clasp needed. The angled opening and the rounded, high-polished ends make it easy to take on and off without putting stress on the wirework or the stones.
