Aura Moonstone Arch Earrings

Aura Moonstone Arch Earrings
These are the Aura Earrings, moonstone arch earrings made as the coordinating mate to the Aura choker and built to stand on their own.
The arch is fabricated by hand from 10-gauge 14k gold-filled wire and mirrors the choker's shape. I drilled holes along the arc, one at the bottom to hang a single bullet-cut moonstone and several more to anchor the cluster into the curve. The ear post sits toward the center of the arch rather than the top, so each earring curves out to follow the lobe rather than lying flat against it. That was an engineering decision as much as an aesthetic one.
The cluster set into the arc is a small world. Crown-cut mixed beryl, aquamarine and morganite and heliodor, gives it geometric structure. Flat pear aquamarine briolettes fill the center for depth, with purple, gray and clear pink sapphires catching light at different angles, and Herkimer diamonds and Akoya keshi pearls underneath.
The bullet moonstone at the bottom is the reason the piece exists. One stone per earring, hanging from the lowest point of the arch, swaying as you move.
They work with a linen shirt on a weekday or above a silk camisole in the evening, and the moonstone does enough talking that you do not need much else.
Built once, never repeated. No production run, no reorder, no second pair. Made by hand by Andrea Li in her Denver studio.
The pink, purple, orange and blue gray Herkimer diamonds in this piece get their color from a thin coating on the surface, not from the crystal itself. Coatings can wear with time and friction, so clean them gently with a soft cloth and keep them away from ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals.
How Length is Measured
For Drop and Dangle Earrings: Measure straight down from the top of the hook or post: 2 inches
• Complete the set with the Aura choker.

From the bench
These were made as the coordinating mate to the Aura choker, built from a gemstone cluster drop set into a hand-formed arch.
I make a pair of earrings for every necklace in a new collection, which started practically, because standard hoops and posts clash with my designs and break the look.
They echo the choker without matching it, so you can wear them together or wear either one alone.
Why every necklace here has its own earrings| Aura Earrings | Typical alternative | |
|---|---|---|
| Center stone | Bullet-cut moonstone, one per earring, hanging from a fabricated arch | Cabochon moonstone or no moonstone at all |
| Metal | 14k gold-filled, hand-fabricated arch from 10-gauge wire | Gold-plated base metal |
| Construction | One of a kind, hand-built in Denver; built once, never repeated | Mass-produced, repeated |
| Focal detail | Ear post soldered toward center of arch so earring curves to follow the lobe -- engineering for both look and comfort | Post at top, earring hangs flat |
| Cluster | Crown-cut mixed beryl, aquamarine briolettes, multi-color sapphires, Herkimer diamonds, and Akoya keshi pearls built into the arc | A single stone or simple drop |
What makes moonstone glow?
Moonstone's inner glow -- called adularescence -- is light scattering between microscopic layers of feldspar inside the stone. As the stone moves, it throws back blues, silvers, and soft yellows depending on the angle. The bullet-cut shape in the Aura Earrings lets that light roll along the length of the stone. You can read more in my moonstone gemstone guide.
Are these earrings one of a kind?
Yes. The Aura Earrings are one of a kind, built once and never repeated. I fabricated the arch by hand in my Denver studio, drilled each hole individually, and set the cluster stone by stone. When they find you, no one else will be wearing them.
Do they come with a matching necklace?
Yes. I designed these as the mate to the Aura choker -- a rainbow moonstone choker with a gilded arch that echoes the earring's shape. Worn together they create one unified look; worn separately each piece holds its own.
How should I store these earrings?
Moonstone rates about 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, so it can scratch against harder stones. Store the Aura Earrings on their own, away from diamonds, sapphires, and other hard pieces. Keep them away from chemicals and knocks, and wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
