Homecoming Green Amethyst Hoop Earrings

Homecoming Green Amethyst Hoop Earrings
These are the Homecoming Hoops, one-of-a-kind green amethyst hoop earrings fabricated from thin square-gauge 14k gold-filled wire.
Each hoop is a caged geometric structure. I soldered individual long ovals and circles into the base, then shaped two large matching hoops, threaded them through, and soldered them in place so every element is fully integrated. They are architectural without being heavy, and remarkably light on the lobe for how much presence they carry.
The wire itself is the reason these exist. I bought it for a production line I was ghost-designing for another brand, and when that designer brought production in-house the raw wire was left without a home. These hoops are what it became. The companion Homecoming necklace came out of what was left after I finished them, so both pieces share one origin.
The cluster on each hoop mirrors its pair exactly. A long green amethyst runs down the center of each flanking cluster, with green topaz, zircon flat briolettes, zircon square rondelles, green sapphire, gray sapphires, aquamarine briolettes and a pearl filling in around it. Every stone was chosen against the cool, watery green of the amethyst.
A white shirt and jeans lets the cluster do everything. A bare-shouldered dress takes the same pair somewhere formal.
Made once and never repeated, by Andrea Li in her Denver studio.
How Length is Measured
For Drop and Dangle Earrings: Measure straight down from the top of the hook/post: 3 ¾ inches
Hoop Diameter: 2 ¼ inches

What is green amethyst?
Green amethyst -- also called prasiolite in the trade -- is quartz that has been gently heat-treated to produce its soft, watery green color. It sits at 7 on the Mohs hardness scale, which makes it durable enough for everyday wear. The long center stones I chose for these hoops have a cool, translucent green that catches light well even in a setting as compact as a cluster earring. You can read more in my amethyst gemstone guide.
Are these hoops one of a kind?
Yes. Homecoming Hoops are one of a kind, built once and never repeated. I fabricated the geometric wire structure by hand in my Denver studio and assembled each cluster so that the two earrings mirror each other precisely. Once they sell, this exact pair is gone.
Is there a matching necklace?
Yes. The Homecoming necklace is the companion piece in this set, built from the wire left over after I finished the hoops. The two pieces share the same origin and the same green amethyst palette, so they work as a set or on their own.
How do I care for these earrings?
Green amethyst is quartz and reasonably hardy, but the cluster construction calls for gentle handling. Store the hoops away from harder pieces that could scratch the stones or snag the wire, keep them away from perfume and chemicals, and wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing. The 14k gold-filled wire holds up well to everyday wear when treated with a little care.
