Top Street Style Trends Spotted During NYFW

With trend spotting at NYFW, it’s increasingly hard to tell if street style is informing runway fashion - or the other way around.

These days there are so many bloggers whose style is to obsessively prioritize creativity in order to stay ahead of the curve, that it seems the power of influence may be shifting.

Even if Paris is taking cues from the street, these styles can easily be adopted by anyone, regardless of their own Instagram following.

The first rule that seemed to be synonymous across the board at New York Fashion Week, regardless of the ensemble was this -

“know thy rules to break thy rules.”

Forget tradition. Wear white after Labor Day, leave the heels at home and loosen up on structure.

The modern woman doesn’t need to be in a tortuous outfit to be utterly chic.

In fact, individuality spoke louder than any definable trend. As if to purposely defy them as an act of rebellion. These renegades seem determined to set traditional fashion sensibilities free, while maintaining at least one chunky couture sneaker on the ground of course.

Some favorite trends include -

• Texture - Mix and match sumptuous, feminine fabrics with chunky knits.

• Color - Pick your favorite because hues across the spectrum were represented, especially with outerwear.

• Feminine evening wear - Flirty frocks and sheer tulle bring back memories of playing dress up.

• Monochromatic - From matching sets of suits to billowing, voluminous looks to take you from day to night.

• Patterns - Expertly blended for a diversified look.

One particularly timeless theme spotted with each outfit was attention to details. Which always includes, you guessed it, jewelry.
